Hampton Library's Adult Programs

The Hampton Library in Bridgehampton presents the following events, free and open to all regardless of residency. Contact the library to register.

• Adult Summer Reading is back with exciting new challenges: space-themed Book Bingo, and the Galactic Race, in which duos compete by scavenging items, sounds, and smells from around the East End.  Race every Saturday, from July 6 to August 24.  Sign up by 5:00 pm on July 2. The team to vanquish their opponents over the course of eight Saturdays will be awarded the grand prize at our end-of-summer event on Saturday, August 31 at 1:00 PM.
• Jump ‘n’ Jive: Swing Dance Lessons!  Edwin & Maria Urbat, the husband-and-wife dance team from Swing Dance Long Island, will be here on Saturday, July 13 at 1:00 PM to show you how to jitterbug, Lindy Hop, and boogie-woogie.  No partner needed. All ages welcome! Registration required.
• Looking for a not-too-serious way to meet new people? The Lighten Your Load Book Club savors reading that is gratifying, uplifting, and – especially – funny. Meets the fourth Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm (June 27).  There is also an online version of the group on Goodreads.  Contact Adult Reference for more information.  Registration requested.
• Join a reference librarian for our Adult Coloring Clique: a unique night out designing and coloring pages while listening to relaxing music and enjoying refreshments. Second Thursday of the month 7:00 PM (July 11). No art skills required! Registration requested.
• Our Knitting Know-How class is geared towards beginners, but knitters of all levels are welcome! Saturdays, July 6 to August 10 at 10:00 am. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own yarn and needles.  Registration requested.
• First Man will be the next feature of our Sunday Movie Screenings, first Sunday of the month at 2:00 pm (July 7).
• Explore international films at our Le Cinéma! Foreign Film Screenings on the first Saturday of the month at 2:30 PM. Our next screening will be The Quake, on July 6. A geologist races against time to save his estranged wife and two children when a devastating earthquake strikes Oslo.
• Have your paper clutter shredded by a professional and secure shred truck for free at our Annual Community Shred Day.  Friday, July 12, 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM.  Too busy on Shred Day? Make an appointment to drop your documents off early! Please note: Plastic, carbon paper, hanging files, Redweld folders, cardboard, newspaper, and magazines CANNOT be accepted. Clips and staples, however, CAN go through the shredder.
• Our English Conversation ESL classes have been moved to Fridays at 4:30 PM for the summer. Monday classes will resume in September.
• The W Connection, a widows support group, meets at the library on the first Monday of the month at 4:30 PM. Visit www.wconnection.org to see what the Connection has to offer.
  
• Japanese language classes are coming in September.  Call the library for details and to reserve a spot before July 31!
